Day 23 – Slumberjack
I borrowed today’s title from the sleeping bag manufacturer, and it says it all–I love sleep. And I am soooo grateful when I get lots of it.
I am the Mighty Slumberjack. I saw logs minutes after hitting the pillow, thus increasing my nightly production over the lethargic. Never a need for pills nor a liquid ‘nightcap’. All na-tu-ral.
I don’t want to sleep my life away, but a little extra sleep would do well these days. Here I am, at 11:15 p.m. and committed to blogging this entry before midnight. We do it to ourselves, don’t we? We live in a 24×7 world, and we’re determined to stay on pace with it.
For me, it’s a trade-off. Quiet hours don’t begin until 9:30 p.m. after the kids are in bed (sometimes later). Seems the only time my wife and I can chat uninterrupted and catch up on to-do’s is when the vampires play. We keep plenty of garlic and wooden stakes handy, don’t worry. (smile)
I think all of the waking world would agree that sleep is an underrated blessing. We can all say in unison, “For sleep we are thankful!”
