30 Days of Thanksgiving – Day 24 – Hoosiers

Day 24 – Hoosiers

My wife, children, and I are implants to Colorado. Since our first stay in the early 90’s, Colorado has always had a special place in our hearts. But once a Hoosier, always a Hoosier.

Indiana was our birthplace. Midwestern towns and the countryside, fishing with my Dad, camping at Lincoln State Park, rooting for the IU basketball and Notre Dame football teams, fall festivals, watching fireworks explode over the Ohio River with our children, proposing to my bride-to-be at the riverside park–all root a warm feeling of hometown tradition.

It can be difficult living one thousand miles from extended family, but the foundations of a great hometown upbringing build character and the courage to step out into the world. It’s interesting how many stories and movies host the setting in Indiana–appropriately called the Crossroads of America.

What a great heritage I have; one I’ll always be proud of.
